If you had hopes of catching the earliest showing of the East
Tennessee-made softball comedy "Boys of Summerville," you
may be out of luck. Advance tickets have sold out for the Regal
Downtown West premiere.
The film is the brainchild of director Brooks Benjamin of
Harriman.
Benjamin started fielding a team in late 2006 to put the movie
together; by June 2007, he and several well-known local actors
were criss-crossing East Tennessee for shoot locations in Oak
Ridge, Alcoa, Maryville, Kingston, Harriman, and Rockwood.
In the film, a city dweller re-connects with the small-town South
and a love for softball.
You can find more information on the Summerville Movie
website or the Summerville MySpace page. Neither has
additional shows listed at this time, but given Benjamin's track
record on the film festival circuit, it's a safe bet more venues will be added in the future.
